“If
you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that
God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one
believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. . . For
‘everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved’” (Romans 10:9 - 10, 13 ESV).
Through the Word of God one comes to belief. Through the work of the Spirit one is convicted of sin and the need to call upon the Lord Jesus. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, eternal life is received as a gift of grace and with the mouth confession is made in praise to God and in a witness to others.
