Before we go
any further with the story, let us take a look at a few pictures of some things
we saw along the way.
Our first
day of travel up into the mountains outside of Chengdu was beautiful. After a
day on the bus we arrived the beautiful mountain town of Daofu, China, where we
met the person that would take us up to our mountain school.
It was
unique to see the water from the mountain stream running down the middle of the
town. The environment was so different from the big city of Chengdu.
As we
continued on up into the mountains to higher elevations, we exchanged the lush
trees for grass and some snow. You can see the hairpin turns we covered to get
up to this higher elevation.
Along the
way we saw a Buddhist temple and stopped for some pictures. The flags up on the
side of the mountain are prayer flags and the cylinders are known as prayer
wheels. A person would start down at the far end and walk by each and give it a
spin. How cold and distant god must be to these people. What a contrast to the
love and warmth we have with God through Jesus Christ.
As
the terrain gets rougher and we get closer to the snow line we also are getting
closer to school where we will do our health screening.
