The focus of this chapter is on an illegal training center located someplace in Chengdu at the time of my visit. It was my first encounter with Chinese people and their culture. It was my first experience of being smuggled into a place under the cover of darkness. It was my first encounter with Chinese food and the use of chopsticks and when the urge came it was my first encounter with a hole in the floor called an Eastern Toilet.
Teaching in that school was an opportunity of a lifetime and sparked a love for these people and a total of seventeen trips to China to have English conversations and to teach Bible in churches and a seminary. I even had my own apartment for awhile, but traded that experience for the opportunity to live with a Chinese family. All of this will come in future chapters as I have time to write.
