My Faith Card

I designed a card that I refer to as "My Faith card" that I hand out as a track and to advertise my blog. I find it useful when sharing my faith because it contains four important points of discussion to follow to learn about the background of the person you are talking with. It also contains a diagram of a very useful verse that describes our condition and how God can fix it.

I have shown the front and back of the card below with some explanation and active links.

How To Start A Faith Conversation - To effectively share your faith with someone it is usually best to first establish a relationship with that person. That requires one to learn some things about that person to help you know how to best start talking about your faith. You want to connect to that person at a comfortable point. The four points shown on the card and covered below help make that faith connection. Remember you want to learn about the person you want to share with. To learn you listen and simply ask questions to gain more information.
  • Origin - Usually a good place to begin is to have the person talk about where they think they came from. Was it evolution or creation or in some other manner? This information will help you formulate the question about whether there is a God or not. If they think there is a god then what do they think he is like? How much time this takes depends on the background of the person. Take your time and establish a good connection here.
  • Meaning - Begin to talk about purpose and value of life. What do they think the purpose of life is? What do they expect to accomplish and of what value is it? Is this purpose and value short term or long term? How does eternal life fit into the picture if it does?
  • Morality - What do they think of the conditions they experience in life? Where does all forms of evil and suffering come from? What do they think causes people to react with one another the way they do? What do they think about the idea of sin?
  • Destiny - When this life is over what do they think happens next, if anything? Is there a better life beyond this one and if so how do we achieve it? This may open the way to share the verse and diagram on the right side of the card.

Sharing Your Faith - A simple and popular way to share your faith is using Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." It is easy to sketch the diagram on a piece of paper or even a napkin.
  • Death - You start with the YOU side, the death side of the verse, and show what we earn when we engage in sin. When you sin you do earn a wage and that wage you get paid is death.
  • Life - If YOU come to Jesus Christ and believe that he died on the cross in our place and that he can take us across to the GOD side we can experience the free gift of eternal life.
